Ota Gossip

The Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area is one of the 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State, Nigeria. Ado - Odo / Ota  Local Government (also known as The Local Government of Distinction) and It came into existence on May 19, 1989.

The Second oldest story building in Nigeria is located in the city of Otta.  Situated in the vicarage of St. James Anglican church Ota, Ogun State was built in 1842.  

Ilaro town was founded in the 18th century by Aro who migrated from the state of Oyo town to settle down in Igbo Aje, a little hill situated at the center of the town from where he and his warriors could sight enemies (mostly slave traders from the neighboring Benin republic known then as Dahomey) on the attack from a long distance.
