Road Accident In Ogun Kills 2 And 23 Injured

ABEOKUTA — Two men lost their lives while 23 others also sustained various degrees of injury on Monday when two commercial buses collided with each other along Abeokuta – Kobape  – Siun road, Ogun State.


The accident which occurred in the morning, involved two Mazda buses marked MUS 585 XT and XQ 583 MUS respectively.

It was learnt that the driver of the Mazda bus with registration number  XQ583MUS and going in direction of Abeokuta, lost control of the wheel, veered off his lane to the other side of the road and crashed into the other coming from the opposite direction headlong.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps(TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the accident, said 23 people – all males, were injured while two others lost their lives.

Akinbiyi added that eight of the inured were evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre(FMC), Abeokuta, for treatment while 15 others were taken to Lantoro  hospital, Abeokuta, for treament.

According to him, the remains of the dead were also deposited at the morgue of Lantoro hospital.

Also, the accident vehicles have been towed to the Obafe Owode Police Division.
