Nigeria’s socio economic problem caused by unpatriotic politicians - Amosun

Governor Ibikunle Amosun said politicians are the ones using divisive tendencies to perpetuate political instability in Nigeria for their selfish interest

Amosun made this known in Bayelsa state where he paid a condolence visit to Governor Seriake Dickson - He maintained that the politicians are not committed to the development of the country. Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state has disclosed that Nigeria’s socio-economic problem is caused by unpatriotic politicians, saying they were not committed to the unity and development of the country.

Leadership reports that Amosun made this known on Thursday, September 13, when he paid a condolence visit to Governor Seriake Dickson over the death of his mother, Goldcoast Dickson, at his Toru-Orua village in Sagbama local government area of the state. He maintained that politicians were the ones using divisive tendencies to perpetuate political instability in the country for their selfish interest.

The governor was accompanied on the condolence visit by Abdulkabir Akinlade, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun state; Senator Lekan Mustapha, (Ogun East),
Senator Tolu Adebiyi, (Ogun West), members of House of Representatives and top government officials, among others.

According to him, “It is easy to say Bayelsa is far away because of distance but our visit here is a lesson for all of us, that it is we politicians that usually divide ourselves.

“Look at Governor Dickson, look at me and look at mama, all the way from Ogun state. Nobody will know that his mother has roots in Ijebu land until you tell them.

“So it is a lesson for us that we are better off when we talk more of things that unite us and bind us together and speak less of those things that divide us.

This visit is a very good example of that handshake across the Niger.” “We have been monitoring your achievements in Bayelsa so I say well done. You will leave in a blaze of glory. People will remember you for your good works because Governor Seriake Dickson, came saw and conquered.”

Commiserating with Dickson, he said the quality of leadership the governor was providing for his people only gave a clear insight into the reputation and the quality of person of his late mother.
