AD picks 39-year-old as Ogun State governorship candidate

A 39-year old Information Communication Technology (ICT) expert, Oluseyi Olufade-Olowookere, has announced his intention to run for governor of Ogun State in 2019 under the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
At a press conference in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Mr Olufade-Olowookere said he would give priority to speedy payment of salaries, gratuities and pensions if elected.

A graduate of Ladoke Akintola University, the aspirant lamented the delay in payment of workers and pensioners entitlements, stressing that those who ensure smooth running of governance should be given prompt attention.
Mr Olufade-Olowookere from Ogun West Senatorial District explained that the pensioners as senior citizens have served the state and should be treated with dignity and respect.

He said his mission as governor will be to deploy simple governance principles, technology and innovation for growth and sustainability in all sectors of the state.

“I am a strong advocate of the delivery of maximum public value to the people through innovation, use of technology and simple governance policies. I have realised that all it takes is simple policies that can be sustained and implemented at the grassroots level to make Nigeria, and indeed Ogun State great. I offer this, a team-oriented style of leadership with energy and tenacity,” he said.

The governorship hopeful emphasised that if elected, he would build on the foundation of democratic governance in the state to make it the preferred destination in the Western Region of Nigeria “to invest, live and work”.

He said he would operate “bottom up” approach in governing the state, as well as create 10,000 jobs for the youth and also create structures that would empower women in medium and small scale enterprises.

Mr Olufade-Olowookere also promised to upgrade the health care system of the state, just as he commended all the past and incumbent governors for developing the state, pointing out that there is more to be done.
