I will unseat APC in Ogun 2019, says ADP Governorship candidate Dimeji Bankole

The Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ogun State, Dimeji Bankole on Monday declared his party will unseat the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the next year’s elections in the state.

Bankole spoke on Monday at the ADP secretariat in Abeokuta shortly after he was officially unveiled as the flag-bearer of the party by the State Chairman, Chief Wale Egunleti.

The Former Speaker of the House of Representatives vowed to pursue vigorously, Mass Employment, which is the motor of the party, if elected as the governor in 2019.

Bankole hinted that the leadership of ADP in the last six years had embarked on grassroots mobilisation, boosting that the party had built structure capable of defeating the incumbent.

While saying “the economic complexities of Ogun is not difficult”, the former lawmaker said the opposition party places priority on competence and credibility.

He said “I am grateful to this massive structure you have built in the last six years especially in the last two years. I promise that I will not, in any capacity, play with the ticket that you have given.

“Also speaking on behalf of all other candidates, I want to tell that come February and March 2019, we will deliver.”

“I am speaking with all confidence in the work that you have done in the last two years, and still doing, most of it covertly. We are in for a shot at the seat in this state. We are dependent on God and the work that we have done and still doing especially at grassroots level.”

“We’re willing to work. I therefore call on all of us to join hands with our party in Ogun State to tell the whole world that there is different way of doing politics, to tell the whole world that we are united and that competence and credibility is the choice of ADP. We are sure that the people of Ogun State will follow us.”

Earlier in his address, Egunleti said Bankole was elected the governorship candidate having possessed the leadership equalities desired by the people of the state.

The Chairman explained the party had consulted electorates across the state on the kind of leader they want.
