Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, on Friday, said his administration would construct and film village and museums in memory of great music and theatre icons from the state.

Amosun listed the music and theatre icons to included late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and late Herbert Ogunde among others.

The governor made the remarks at the 3rd National Convention of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria held in Abeokuta.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Amosun bagged the award of “TAMPAN Man of the Year”.

Amosun said that the proposed film village and museums were to be sited along Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway and would start before the 2019 general elections.

He promised to do more for the state and for Theatre Arts, saying: “the reward for
hard work is more work and this will spur me to do more”.
Describing the state as the root of Theatre Arts in Nigeria, Amosun appreciated the association for bringing the convention back home.

He commended entertainment practitioners for being worthy partners in the government’s rebuilding mission.
He pledged to deliver more on his electioneering campaign promises, even as the tenure of his government would soon expire.

Earlier, the TAMPAN President, Dele Odule, said the convention was the third after two successful editions in Kwara and Lagos States.

Odule said: “I am proud to say unequivocally that this is one of the legacies of our administration as we didn’t just find ourselves in the class that we are today by coincidence.

“We had a dream and we pursued it spiritedly, although the journey so far has not been smooth but our intention and the spirit behind our notion gave us the needed headway during the first two editions of our annual convention.”
NAN recalls that theatre icon,Chief Hubert Ogunde, burn on May 31, 1916 and died on April 4, 1990) while the music icon, Fela Anikulapo, who was born on October15, 1938, died August 2, 1997.
