567,637 PVCs uncollected in Ogun State — INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ogun State, yesterday, disclosed that no fewer than  567,637 Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, were yet to be collected  by residents of the state ahead of 2019 general elections.


The Commission’s Administrative Secretary in the state, James Popoola disclosed this at a one-day Stakeholders Election Forum on display held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.


He said: “The whole essence of Voter Register Clean-Up is to assist eligible voters to confirm their registration status; to remove names of deceased, under age, and non Nigerians from the register of voters; to insert omitted names and to correct spellings and other errors identified in gender, names, age and addresses. 

“Only citizens with PVCs are eligible to participate in the election. Go out and collect your cards. No collection by proxy.”

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, has announced that the state have secured a landmark investment of up to $2.5 billion for Africa’s first Disneyland-style resort. While highlighting the state’s rapid economic growth and tourism potential, Abiodun revealed that Ogun’s economy has expanded from N3.5 trillion to N16 trillion over the past six years, ranking it among Nigeria’s fastest-growing economies. In a post via his X handle, the governor credited this growth to strategic investments in infrastructure, basic amenities, and tourism development, noting that Olumo Rock now generates about N20 million weekly following its renovation. The governor further disclosed that MAG Group recently visited Abeokuta and pledged to invest between $1.8 billion and $2.5 billion in hospitality and entertainment projects.
