Court Voids Suspension of Two Ogun State Lecturers

Two lecturers of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State can now heave a sigh of relief, just as National Industrial Court (NIC) sitting in Abeokuta, the state capital, has nullified their suspension by the institution’s authorities.

Relief came the way of the two suspended lecturers when the presiding judge, justice Opeloye Ogunbowale, in his judgment yesterday, averred that the applicants were not given fair hearing by either the governing Council of the College or the Ministry of Education.

The affected lecturers, Dr. Daniel Oludipe and Dr. Dupe Adenuga, were suspended April last year over a protest letter they wrote, agitating for the defrayment of unpaid 42 months’ salary arrears, 15 months of unpaid salaries and non-remittance of nine months of cooperative deductions and housing scheme.

The Court which said the suspension of the lecturers is subject to judicial review and quashed the suspension.

The presiding judge also barred the governing council and the State Ministry of Education from further implementing their decisions and declared the letters of suspension of the lecturers remains null and void.
