Gbenga Daniel Speaks On Senate Nomination By Kashamu’s PDP Faction

A former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has appreciated his nomination to stand for election as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District.


Daniel, who spoke on his Twitter handle on Friday, was reacting to his nomination by the Senator Buruji Kashamu faction of the PDP to stand for the election.

The faction, which has Bayo Dayo as the Ogun State Chairman of the party, revealed on Wednesday that it had submitted the names of Daniel as senatorial candidate and former presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, as deputy governorship candidate, to the Independent National Electoral Commission.


Reacting on his Twitter handle, Daniel, who is also the Director General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, expressed appreciation for the consideration for him to stand for the election.

He said he was shocked to discover that the nomination and expression of interest form for him had been bought.

He tweeted: “This news came to me just as it did to most Nigerians. I thank those who considered me worthy, for reposing so much confidence in me to add value and procured the forms on my behalf without my knowledge. I also appreciate the fact that our party.

“PDP can do well in the 2019 elections in Ogun State If all factions can bury the hatchets and come together as one. While I am deeply committed to the @atiku project to get #NigeriaWorkingAgain.”
