l will Soon Declare Adebutu as PDP Governorship Candidate – INEC

A faction of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which conducted the primary election that produced Oladipupo Adebutu as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2019 polls, says Senator Buruji Kashamu will not fly the party’s flag in Ogun State next year.

The faction also expressed optimism that the Independent National Electoral  Commission (INEC) would publish Adebutu’s name as the authentic candidate of the Ogun PDP in the next year election.

Concise News recalls that INEC  had on Sunday, declared Senator Kashamu, representing Ogun East Senatorial District, as the PDP ’s governorship candidate for the 2019 general elections.

However, in a statement in Abuja, the Media Consultant to the state chapter of the PDP, Afolabi Orekoya, said the national leadership of the party was already taking up the matter with INEC.

Orekoya called on the  people of  the state and well-meaning Nigerians to “disregard the wishful thinking of Kashamu who had been expelled from the party and who  did not participate in the primary process as provided for by the electoral law.”

He also said Kashamu had no recognition by the party because he did not obtain their intention and nomination forms from the PDP.

Orekoya said, “The only recognised chapter of the party in Ogun State is the Sikirulai Ogundele-led executive that produced Oladipupo Adebutu as our governorship candidate.

“The matter in the Appeal and the Supreme courts will soon be concluded and the truth will prevail. Then, our real candidate in the person of Adebutu will be published by INEC.”
