Ogun State youth group drums support for Isiaka

A group, Ogun Youth Assembly (OYA), has declared its support for the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, describing him as the best man for the job.

The group noted that the private sector background of the former group managing director of the Gateway Holdings, would help him breathe a new lease of life into the state.

Addressing a news conference in Abeokuta, the state capital, yesterday, OYA’s National Coordinator and the Coordinating Secretary, Oyedele Malumba and Adekunle Oshidipe, respectively, said the challenges of the state, in terms of rising unemployment, decay in public institutions and neglect of the semi-urban and rural areas, were well understood by the ADC’s candidate.

“Having traversed the length and breadth of the 236 wards and 20 local government areas of the state twice, Isiaka is the best man suited to return the lost glory of public institutions, be it school or health centres.

“As a product of Nazareth High School, Imeko, to the then Ogun State Polytechnic and later the Obafemi Awolowo University, as a first class graduate, the answers to the problems of fading public institutions is up his sleeves,” the group said.

He said his administration would stop awarding road contracts to foreign companies and patronise local contractors to further bring governance closer to the grassroots.

Paseda, made this known on Tuesday, during a town hall meeting with chairmen of Community Development Associations and Area Community Development Councils, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
He disclosed further that his administration will also carry out maintenance and reconstruction of link roads in the state.

According to him, construction of rural roads will not only reduce traffic congestion on the city roads, but also ensure their durability. Paseda said awarding contracts to foreign companies will reduce the internally generated revenue of the state.
