Amosun made me look ‘stupid’ – Ex-governor, Osoba

Olusegun Osoba, former Ogun governor, has said incumbent governor Ibikunle Amosun, made him “look stupid” when he presented him a paper containing four commissioner nominees following his election as governor in 2011.

He made the remark yesterday when Dapo Abiodun, Ogun All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, met with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.

Amosun was elected on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) during his first term in office.

For his second term, he ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Osoba, an APC chieftain, said he was humiliated in spite of him spending all he had on the governorship bid of Amosun in 2011.

He said: “I don’t want to denigrate the office of governor because Amosun is still in saddle

“I am proud to say that, when Amosun contested in 2011 on AC platform, I spent all the money that I had on me to make him governor.

“He requested for four commissioner nominees from me and I took the list to him in his office. Thank God, Leke Adewolu was on seat that very day.

“The only regret I had was that I gave him the list containing the four names and he tore it in my presence. He now asked me to write a fresh one and bring it to him. And I looked stupid. That was my only regret.”

Amosun is backing Adekunle Akinlade, governorship candidate of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), to emerge as his successor.

The outgoing governor remains at loggerheads with Adams Oshiomhole, APC national chairman, over Akinlade’s failure to secure the governorship ticket of the ruling party.
