FRAUD: Police raid fake shrine in Ogun, arrest 72-yr-old man, 7 others

Suspected ritualist a 72-year-old man has been apprehended along with others, following a police raid at a scammers shrine in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
It’s been reported the shrine which is employed to swindle unsuspecting members of the public was busted, after vigilant residents alerted the Ago-Iwoye Police Division, pressuring the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Ade Adedoyin, to detail his officers on the onerous task of trailing and tracking the fraudsters.

Among people arrested eight members of the syndicate including the 72-year-old man were apprehended after the police raided the shrine. The arrested suspects were identified as Abiodun Bamgbopa, 72; Olashile Raheem, 35; Nureni Raheem, 32; Raphael Joseph, 24; Ganiu Olawale, 24; Adenubi Semiu; 25, Mustapha Lukman, 39 and, Raimi Ramoni, 42.

Further the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of members of the syndicate aforementioned;

“The suspects were apprehended and taken to Ago-Iwoye Police Divisional Headquarters, where they were interrogated and confessed to be fraudsters, adding that, they posed as spiritualists to their victims, with enormous powers of cleansing all sorts of problems. With this, many have been defrauded in millions”.



“Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the activities of the syndicate, whom he said should be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as the investigation is completed. He equally advised members of the public to beware of the antics of fraudsters pretending to be spiritualists”, Oyeyemi added
