My plans for Ogun state — Dapo Abiodun

Governor-elect in Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, yesterday, gave insight into his plans for the state, even as he described road to the state government house as tough with many obstacles.

Abiodun, who spoke during a maiden victory speech, at his Iperu-Remo country home, in Ikenne local government area of the state, insisted that he  bore no grudge  against the outgoing governor,  Ibikunle Amosun, despite his objection and ill-treatment meted out to him in the course of his Governorship ambition.

According to him, ”It is important to note that, I bear no personal grudge against Amosun. But, all I am concerned about is what I have in stock to offer the good people of Ogun State.  Anger doesn’t have a place in my heart. The issue at stake is not about Amosun or Dapo Abiodun, but about the generality of the people.”

On whether he will probe the administration of Amosun, Abiodun said it was premature to embark on such a task when there were other issues to undertake. The governor-elect said campaigns and elections were over and that it was time to harness the huge human and natural resources of the state for rapid development for the overall interest and benefits of the people.

Abiodun said: “Our government, your government, shall give Ogun State a focused and qualitative governance, responsive, open and accountable to the people.

“For rapid industrialization and infrastructural development, we will proactively create and promote the enabling environment for a public private sector partnership, which is fundamental to the creation of an enduring economic development and the individual prosperity of Ogun people.

We shall also focus on development of agriculture and rural roadsto increase the output of food and cash crops, create wealth for real farmers and ease the movement of farm produce to the markets within and outside the state while generating revenue”.
On local government administration, the governor-elect, said “We will return relevance to this third tier of government in Ogun State and create a beneficial synergy that will quicken the pace of development in our local government areas. Ogun State is well blessed with resources heavily deposited across the state.

We shall explore these resources in the overall interest of our people. “We will run a government of all and for all.

A government that will fair and equitable in the spread of infrastructural development goal across the state.  We shall place a premium on human capital development of the generality of our people, including workers and civil servants. For us, our people shall be first in governance”. He however extended his hands of fellowship to other contestants, “to my fellow contestants,

we have all participated to the best of our abilities in vying for the exalted office, which can only be occupied by one person at a time. I, therefore, most humbly, and unconditionally, extend my hand of fellowship to my compatriots from other parties, and indeed, all those who contested with me at the APC primaries for the party ticket, which I won.  I have learnt a lot of lessons from the experience. If you are humble and resilient you would overcome any challenge.”
