Police command warns Ogun residents against hooliganism during elections

Sango-Ota (Ogun) _ The Police Command in Ogun today Thursday warned the residents to avoid any form of hooliganism and violence that might distort the conduct of governorship and House of Assembly elections slated for Saturday.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, Mr Bimbola Oyeyemi, gave the warning in an interview . Oyeyemi said the advice became necessary as the command would not tolerate any act that would hinder the smooth conduct of the elections.

He also said that the command had put in place adequate and elaborate security arrangements that would ensure free and fair elections. He said there was no reason for the citizens of thye state to express fears concerning Saturday’s elections in the state since the Presidential and National Assembly elections were successful.

“All the special and tactical units like the SARS, the Police Mobile Force, State Criminal and Investigation Department, Kidnapping and Occultism Department are on ground to deal decisively with anybody that may want to distort the process of the elections on Saturday,” he said.

Oyeyemi said that the command operations would be headed by an Assistant Inspector General of police (AIG). The AIG would oversee the three commissioners of police deployed to manage the three senatorial districts across the state to check any misconduct during the elections. “We implore the residents of the state to come out en-masse to cast their votes and exercise their civil rights without any fears,” he said.
