Abiodun takes oath of office as the 5th Ogun state Governor

The new governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has been sworn in as the fifth governor of the state for a four-year term.

Abiodun was sworn-in alongside his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, after the duo took the oath of allegiance and oath of office at the MKO Abiola Stadium at Kuto in Abeokuta, the state capital on Wednesday.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Hon Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, on the deputy governor around 11:40 am, while the governor took his own around 11:53 am.

Clad in a flowing agbada attire called ‘sanyan‘, Abiodun arrived the venue at 11:04 am with his wife, Bamidele, shortly the deputy-governor and her husband, Bode Oyedele, arrived the venue of the ceremony .

The swearing-in ceremony commenced with Muslim and Christian prayers by the president of League of Imams and Alfas in the state, Sheikh Liadi Orunsolu and the state chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Bishop Tunde Akin-Akinsanya, respectively .

Dignitaries at the event were former governor of the state, Segun Osoba; former deputy governor, Gbenga Kaka, Senator representing Ogun West, Tolu Odebiyi; Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Yemi Sanusi and the current president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnic, among others .
