Mercy Chinwo Slams An “Upcoming Artiste” With 2 Billion Naira Lawsuit For Using Her Name

 

A popular Gospel singer has filed an N2 billion lawsuit against an upcoming artist for using her name in a secular song.


The Upcoming artist, Obidiz used Mercy Chinwo‘s name as the title of his song. He also used her to cite an example of a wayward, club girl. “She dey share me the cake, but she no wants to commit Mercy Chinwo for church, but for club na Cardi B sef”


The lawsuit was filed for the defamatory use of the name, and image of Mercy Chinwo in the secular music audio and video. Obidiz was ordered to stop using her name to promote the song and he should take down the song from all digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Sound Cloud, and others.
He is to tender an apology to Mercy Chinwo privately and on social media. Failure to comply with her demands will lead to a legal battle and he will be ordered by the court to pay Mercy Chinwo 2 billion nairas for damages.
