Police Arrest Eight Secondary School Students for Alleged Cultism in IFO, Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight students of Ifo High School over alleged involvement in cult activities.

According to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the arrest followed a report by the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Alako Oluwole, and a teacher, Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius, on March 21, 2025. They reported that a group of students were engaging in cult-related activities, causing disturbances, and extorting valuables from fellow students.

Acting on this, the Ifo Divisional Police Officer, in collaboration with school authorities, apprehended the students, who were suspected members of a cult group called *Future Guys.* Investigations revealed that two senior students had allegedly initiated them into the group.

The police have launched a thorough investigation to assess the extent of cult activities in the school and prevent further occurrences. The arrested students will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further questioning and legal processes.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed that the students be brought before him for further interviews, counseling, and mentoring as part of efforts to curb cultism among youths. He urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to work together to eliminate cultism from schools.
