I’ll open up rural areas in Ogun, says Gboyega Isiaka

A governorship aspirant in Ogun State on the platform of African Democratic Congress, Gboyega Isiaka, says he will open up the rural areas in the state by constructing the neglected roads if he wins the election in 2019.

Isiaka said this at Gangan Square, Ota, while concluding his week-long tour of the communities in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

He noted that the current administration only embarked on projects that suited it, rather than by consulting with people of the state.

He added that only a few of the projects were done with the people of the state in mind.

He said, “This government, from its beginning, has been insincere with the people.

“Very few of its policies have been done with the people in mind.

“We were on tour of Obafemi-Owode/Odeda/Abeokuta North Federal Constituency two weeks ago and what we saw were not just bad roads but total neglect of rural communities in terms of amenities.

“We are, however, shocked that Ado-Odo/Ota could be in this deplorable condition. It is the second biggest local government in this state and major contributor to the revenue profile. Infrastructure here is nothing to write home about.

“Moving through Ado-Odo, Igbesa, Alapoti, Agbara, Ota, Ijoko and environs, all you see are signposts of poverty, squalor and degraded environment. Yet, the government is wasting billions of borrowed monies building needless bridges where they are not needed.

“There are also failed model schools, unoccupied markets, among other drain pipe projects that litter the state at huge costs to future generations.”

He said the ADC government would operate with sincerity, integrity and binding social contract such that the people would reap the dividends of democracy through the construction of quality roads, provision of adequate health care, sound and quality education, among others.

A chieftain of the party from Remo division, Akogun Pegba Otemolu, opened the event with a call on the people of Ogun West to be united for ADC, promising that the party will liberate them from the shackles of underdevelopment.
