No going back on zoning in Ogun — APC Chairman

ABEOKUTA— CHAIRMAN, Ogun State All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Derin Adebiyi, has said the party was not going back on its decision to cede its  governorship ticket in the coming election in the state to Ogun West.

Adebiyi said this  while addressing party supporters at the formal declaration of a governorship aspirant from Ogun West, Mr. Biyi Otegbeye, when he visited the state secretariat. The chairman said: “We can see that, a good number of them are more qualified.

“I want to rejoice with the people of Ogun West that the governorship ticket of the party has been zoned to their district. “The APC executives will not waiver on this zoning policy because the party is supreme.

Aspirants from the other two senatorial districts are free to run in the governorship race with Ogun West because the party will not prevent them from coming out; because we have provided a level-playing field for every aspirant.

However, because the party is supreme, zoning policy will guide us jealously.” In his remarks, Otegbeye said: “The rich culture and values in the Yewa-Awori in Ogun State, as reflected in the number of eminently qualified aspirants who have indicated interest in the top position, should not be mistaken for disunity, but a common resolve of the Ogun West senatorial district to give the state the best leadership in the coming dispensation for the common good of the people.”
