Social media platforms are not places to complain about sensitive cases - OGUN STATE POLICE COMMAND

In a tweet this morning, the Ogun State Police Command addressed the public, emphasizing the importance of reporting sensitive cases through official channels rather than on social media platforms. The Command expressed concern over the trend of individuals reporting such cases on social media and encouraged them to utilize the appropriate channels provided by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

The tweet stated, "Good morning to our dear Blue App fame. Let's quickly enlighten ourselves about case reportage. It is crucial to note that our people are fond of reporting sensitive case(s) on social media. However, let's imbibe the habit of reporting sensitive case(s) to the NPF officially in their station/formation, and not on social media."

The Command highlighted that social media platforms are not the designated avenues to lodge complaints against sensitive cases, particularly cases related to police brutality or extortion. They emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents directly to the police station or formation responsible for handling such matters.

The statement made by the Command regarding social media as an unsuitable platform for complaining about sensitive cases has sparked discussions among the public. Some individuals support the Command's stance, agreeing that official channels offer a more appropriate and effective means of reporting and resolving such cases.

Others, however, express concerns about the accessibility and responsiveness of official channels, leading them to turn to social media for visibility and potential assistance.

The public's response to the statement varies, with some echoing the Command's call for proper reporting procedures, while others highlight the need for improved accountability within the police force and easier access to justice for all.

As discussions unfold, it is expected that this statement will prompt further dialogue on the issue of reporting sensitive cases and the role of social media in addressing such matters.
